Jay Singh Treasurer
In 1890, Jay’s grandfather was sent from India to Fiji to become an indentured laborer. Eventually, his determined parents became educators who invited villagers to listen to their radio - the first in the village.
Jay walked 5 miles to catch the school bus. He fetched water, grazed and milked cows, and lit kerosene lamps. After hurricanes, he’d distribute food and help secure homes.
At 18, Jay went to India where he earned a degree in biology. Upon returning to Fiji, he became a refinery chemist. In 1979, Jay’s father immigrated to Oakland and became a teacher.
Soon Jay joined his parents. In 2018, he retired from biotech.
Understanding the needs of the underprivileged, Jay is determined to help them.
Jay and his wife Rohini enjoy traveling and their wonderful children.
