For over twenty-five years I have derived joy in teaching people to learn to read, write, and speak English.
In 2000, I was asked to join the Hayward Literacy Plus Council (HLPC) while I was a GED and Basic Skills teacher at the Hayward Adult School. To help students improve their skills, I compiled a manual, “Fast Forward to Phonics – Learn to Read English” and created an audio track which is now available on YouTube.
As a tutor for the Literacy Program at the Hayward Library since 2000, I’ve always been impressed with the courage of people seeking to improve their skills, become productive members of society, and good role models for their children.
As a board member of the HLPC, I enjoy helping to support Hayward Library programs which enable people to enjoy success at school and work.
